Senior Engineer / Site Engineer

A leading main contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer / Site Engineer to join their delivery team on a major site-based scheme in Lichfield. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a key role in the construction of a high-profile project, with a focus on quality, programme, and safety.

The Role:

As Senior Engineer, you will play a vital part in the successful planning and execution of the project, ensuring works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret technical drawings and ensure accurate construction in line with the latest project information

  • Take ownership of dimensional control and setting out using a variety of modern methods

  • Maintain thorough site records, including progress tracking and quality assurance documentation

  • Support and mentor junior engineering staff, fostering a strong on-site team culture

  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and the client to maintain smooth project delivery

  • Assist in programming works and regularly update the project team on progress

  • Order materials through accurate quantity take-offs

  • Ensure all work is completed in line with relevant safety and environmental regulations

  • Take a proactive approach to maintaining a safe, clean and professional site

  • Proven experience in a Senior or Site Engineer role on main contracting projects

  • Strong background in groundworks and civil engineering packages

  • Proficient in setting out and surveying, ideally with experience in Cat & Genny use

  • Excellent understanding of health & safety, temporary works, and quality control procedures

  • Capable IT skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • SMSTS, CSCS (Managerial level), and First Aid at Work certifications

  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering

  • Experience mentoring and leading junior engineers
