A leading industrial and commercial build main contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their growing pre-construction team based in Northampton. With a strong pipeline of large-scale industrial, commercial, logistics, and mixed-use developments across the UK, this is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established contractor offering long-term progression, flexible working, and involvement in high-profile projects.
The Role: As Estimator, you will play a key role in the preparation of competitive tenders and cost plans across a range of major construction projects. You will work closely with pre-construction, commercial, and operational teams to secure profitable new business opportunities. The role offers hybrid / work-from-home flexibility alongside office and project involvement when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for industrial and commercial construction projects
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- Producing detailed take-offs and pricing schedules
- Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Identifying project risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions
- Attending tender meetings and client presentations
- Supporting bid submissions and pre-construction activities
- Liaising with operational, commercial, and design teams throughout the tender process
- Assisting with handover of successful projects to delivery teams
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Estimator within a main contractor environment
- Experience pricing industrial, commercial, logistics, or large-scale build projects
- Strong understanding of construction methods and sequencing
- Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence
