A leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their expanding pre-construction team. The Role

As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for a range of groundworks and civil engineering projects. You will play a key role in securing new business, working closely with commercial and operational teams to ensure robust and profitable pricing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing detailed cost estimates for groundworks and civil engineering tenders
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
  • Producing take-offs for earthworks, drainage, foundations, and external works
  • Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Identifying risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
  • Attending pre-tender and post-tender meetings
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, and internal teams during the bid process
  • Supporting handover of successful tenders to the delivery team

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within groundworks, civil engineering, or infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of residential infrastructure, roads, drainage, and earthworks packages
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple tenders
  • Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driving licence
