Paediatric Occupational Therapist Job Type: Permanent, Term-Time Only (40 hours per week) Salary:  £35,000 – £37,000 per Annum About the School: Heritage House School is a specialist educational setting dedicated to supporting neurodiverse children aged 3-18 with severe, profound, and complex disabilities. Our multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to provide child-centred care, ensuring that every student reaches their full potential. Role Overview: My client is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our team. This role involves assessing, reporting, and developing intervention plans for children referred by the school. The successful candidate will work holistically with families and a multi-disciplinary team to provide high-quality care and support. You will be supported by a therapy assistant and supervised by a senior occupational therapist. Key Responsibilities: Independently manage a clinical caseload, conducting assessments using both standardised and non-standardised tools. Interpret assessment data and create clinical assessment reports with clear intervention plans. Develop child/family-centred treatment plans using goal attainment scaling. Deliver 1:1 and small group therapy sessions within the school setting. Maintain high standards of clinical record-keeping. Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team to promote child safety and risk management. Adapt to evolving responsibilities and undertake additional duties as required. Essential Qualifications & Experience: Recognised Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy. Health Professions Council (HCPC) registration – Licence to Practice. Experience working in paediatric clinical or educational settings. Strong understanding of conditions such as Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Dyspraxia, Sensory Processing Disorder, and neurological disorders. Knowledge of a broad range of paediatric assessment tools and therapeutic interventions. Key Skills & Attributes: Excellent interpersonal skills, including observation, listening, and empathy. Strong clinical reasoning, analytical, and reflective abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Effective written and verbal communication skills for complex case presentations. Strong organisational and prioritisation skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Understanding of clinical governance, audit principles, and professional standards. Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards working with diverse needs. Other Requirements: Ability to travel reliably to the school location. Desirable: Car driver. Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including moving therapy equipment and working with children at floor/small table levels.
