Deputy Headteacher - The Role
This school is looking for an experienced Deputy Headteacher to join the senior leadership team and support the strategic and operational leadership of the provision. The successful Deputy Headteacher will work closely with the Headteacher to ensure high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour, safeguarding, and student wellbeing across the school. You will support curriculum development, staff performance, and quality assurance while helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
The role will involve leading on key areas such as behaviour, pastoral support, attendance, teaching and learning, and EHCP provision depending on experience. The successful Deputy Headteacher will play a key role in driving school improvement, supporting staff development, and ensuring pupils receive a high-quality, personalised education that prepares them for further education and adulthood.
The ideal candidate will have strong SEN or SEMH leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to lead and motivate teams within specialist or alternative education settings. This is a permanent position starting ASAP.
Deputy Headteacher - The School
This is The Ryes College, an independent specialist school supporting pupils aged with SEMH needs, autism, moderate learning difficulties, and additional behavioural and communication needs. The school currently supports around 29 pupils with all learners holding EHCPs. The school provides a highly personalised and therapeutic learning environment with very small class sizes, strong pastoral systems, and a multidisciplinary approach involving teachers, therapists, and support staff. Pupils benefit from tailored learning pathways designed to support emotional wellbeing, engagement, and preparation for adulthood.
