ASD Primary Teacher – London Teaching Pool are currently recruiting for a specialist complex needs Teacher to work with primary aged children (KS2) in a SEN school in Dartford. The role is to start ASAP to teach from year 1 to year 5. The position will start ASAP and run until the end of the summer term. The school teaches the UK Primary National Curriculum to complex needs children who cannot be educated in mainstream settings. The post involves teaching 2 days in Crayford and 2 days in Sidcup, with the remaining day to be confirmed but planning time will be provided. Flexibility is required as one class is behavioural and the other has both behavioural and some medical needs. All primary students arrive with a statement of SEN (Education Care Plan) and often have missed education or specific learning difficulties, resulting in comparatively low prior attainment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the UK Primary National Curriculum to complex needs children who cannot be educated in mainstream.
  • Deliver lessons across KS2 (Year 1–Year 5) and adapt approaches for learners with complex needs.
  • Work across two sites (Crayford and Sidcup) with one additional day planned and time allocated for planning.
  • Be flexible with class allocations; one class with behavioural needs and another with behavioural and some medical needs.
  • Demonstrate excellent behaviour and classroom management skills in a SEN environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • At least 1 year of classroom experience; Team-Teach qualification is desirable.
  • Strong track record of raising achievement and motivation.
  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills and ability to build positive relationships with young people and staff.
  • Team Teach or similar restraint training certificate.
  • Good knowledge/experience working with children with complex needs within an SEN environment.
  • Ability to teach KS2 curriculum and to work well as part of a team.
  • Positive personality; eligibility to work in the UK; valid DBS (preferably on Update Service); two references.
