London Teaching Pool are recruiting for a specialist complex needs Teacher to work with primary aged children (KS2) in a SEN school in Dartford. This role is urgent and starts ASAP, teaching from Year 1 to Year 5. The position runs from now until the end of the summer term.

This Primary ASD Teaching role will involve teaching the UK Primary National Curriculum to complex needs pupils who cannot be educated in a mainstream setting. You would teach 2 days in Crayford and 2 days in Sidcup; the remaining day is to be confirmed, with planning time provided.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver the UK Primary National Curriculum to students with complex needs (KS2) in a SEN environment.
  • Teach across Year 1 to Year 5 with flexibility due to variations in class needs (one class primarily behavioural; another with both behavioural and medical needs).
  • Adapt teaching to students who often arrive with Education Care Plans and lower prior attainment due to gaps in education.
  • Demonstrate excellent behaviour and classroom management; utilise strategies suitable for learners with ASD and complex needs.
  • Collaborate with school staff and plan lessons, with allocated planning time.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • At least 1 year of classroom experience, ideally with Team-Teach qualification; strong track record of raising achievement and motivation.
  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills and ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Team Teach or similar restraint training certificate (desirable).
  • Good knowledge/experience of working with children with complex needs within an SEN environment.
  • Ability to teach KS2 curriculum and work well as part of a team.
  • Positive, engaging personality; valid DBS (preferably updating service); right to work in the UK; minimum of two references.
