A Class Teacher is needed for a Specialist School in Uxbridge. TLTP are looking for a qualified SEN Class Teacher to work full-time at a Complex Needs School. The ideal candidate would have experience of working with pupils aged 7-19 with autism and moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties/disabilities including those with visual and hearing impairments.

The role includes:

  • Planning and delivering highly individualized, engaging, and meaningful lessons that consider cognitive, communication, and sensory profiles.
  • Leading and managing a class team of support staff to ensure a consistent and person-centred approach across the day.
  • Collaborating with therapists and other professionals to embed therapeutic strategies into daily teaching.
  • Using augmentative and alternative communication systems (AAC) including high-tech (e.g., communication devices/apps) and low-tech systems (e.g., PECS, Sign-Along, visual supports).
  • Building strong relationships with families and contributing positively to home-school communication.
  • Playing an active role in annual reviews and contributing meaningfully to Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) processes.

Required skills include:

  • Being a qualified teacher with proven SEN experience, ideally in a special school setting.
  • Extensive experience with AAC systems both high-tech and low-tech.
  • Experience teaching students with complex and severe learning needs, sensory processing difficulties and managing behaviours positively using PBS principles.
  • Skills in multidisciplinary collaboration and confidence in embedding therapeutic and regulation strategies into teaching.
  • Ability to lead, inspire, and support a class team to deliver high-quality, consistent care and education.
  • Confidence in working with parents/carers and supporting EHCP processes.
