- Planning and delivering engaging lessons across the primary curriculum
- Supporting pupils’ academic, social and emotional development
- Working closely with the wider school team
Year 2 Primary Teacher - Key Responsibilities
As a Year 2 Primary Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, creative and well-structured lessons for a Year 2 class.
- Deliver the full primary curriculum, adapting teaching to meet individual learning needs.
- Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
- Support pupils to make strong academic progress and achieve their full potential.
- Assess and monitor pupil progress, adapting teaching where appropriate.
- Differentiate learning activities to support pupils of all abilities.
- Promote positive behaviour and high expectations throughout the classroom.
- Develop positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- Support pupils’ social and emotional development.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team.
- Contribute to planning, assessment and school-wide activities where required.
Year 2 Primary Teacher - About You
The successful Year 2 Primary Teacher will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) — desirable/essential depending on experience.
- Previous experience teaching within a primary school.
- Experience teaching Key Stage 1, particularly Year 2 — desirable.
- Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum.
- A creative and engaging approach to teaching and learning.
- Excellent classroom management skills.
- Ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to meet individual needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, nurturing and inclusive approach.
- Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and colleagues.
- A proactive and flexible approach to school life.
- A genuine passion for helping children learn, develop and achieve their potential.
