The team currently has 14 members including a Knowledge Lawyer, making it one of the largest legal tax practices outside of London. Recognised by The Legal 500, our Corporate Tax & Incentives team advises a broad range of UK and international clients on complex transactions, tax structuring and strategic tax matters.

We operate national service lines and work on the basis that the best-placed lawyer supports the client, meaning your client base is not limited by geography. Your Role

As a senior member of the Corporate Tax & Incentives team, you will provide a premium service to our clients, ensuring the advice and support are of the highest quality. We expect you to develop into a sector expert and be viewed as a business advisor by our clients. As a senior addition to the team, you can expect to:

  • Work closely with the Partners in the team on advisory and transactional work while managing your own caseload
  • Work effectively with our colleagues in the Corporate and Real Estate teams on a range of transactional work
  • Lead Incentives projects (with appropriate supervision from Partners) and handle client relationships (both internally and externally)
  • Actively contribute to and drive business development opportunities
  • Supervise and support newly qualified Associates and Trainees within the team

As outlined by our impressive track record of promotions, we place a high value on training and development. We would expect the successful candidate to play a key role in developing junior team members, helping them reach their potential while continuing to progress their own career, with a clear pathway for development and advancement.

Your Skills and Experience

Whilst the ideal candidate will have experience in both Corporate Tax and Incentives, we also welcome applications from candidates with a skill set and experience in just one of these practice areas. You must be/have:

  • A qualified solicitor (SRA or Law Society registered) with 5+ years' PQE and experience advising on a range of UK tax matters, including corporation tax, income tax, VAT and stamp duty land tax
  • An ability to give succinct legal and tax advice in an efficient manner whilst understanding (and anticipating) the commercial needs and objectives of the client
  • A forward thinker, able to demonstrate first class communication skills with the ability and confidence to engage with clients and colleagues at all levels
  • A proven track record in business development and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Able to develop a deep understanding of clients' businesses and objectives, acting in the best interests of both the firm and the client
  • Able to contribute to our collaborative culture, with an ambition to assist in the development of junior team members
