Overview

In this role you will support public sector procurement and commercial work for central government, local authorities, and agencies. You will work with senior public procurement lawyers to provide expert advice and draft documentation. The role offers exposure to high-profile national projects through recognised public sector frameworks. You will help manage a broad caseload, contribute to business development, and collaborate across multiple offices to shape procurement outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Handle a varied caseload of procurements, contracts, and agreements for public sector clients
  • Advise on procurement strategy and draft procurement documents such as ITTs, specifications, and notices
  • Support procurement litigation by assisting with informal and formal challenges
  • Draft, review, and manage contracts, framework agreements, and call-off arrangements across the contract lifecycle
  • Collaborate with partners across offices on strategy and team development
  • Contribute to business development and assist in delivering client training

Key requirements

  • Qualified lawyer NQ+ with UK public procurement law knowledge (Procurement Act 2023, Public Contracts Regulations 2015)
  • Experience advising on procurement processes and drafting/reviewing key documentation
  • Experience with tendering procedures (open, restricted, negotiated, competitive dialogue) and procurement portals (Jaggaer, Proactis)
  • Ability to draft, review, and manage contracts, framework agreements, and call-off arrangements
  • Understanding of value for money, whole-life costing, and budget management
  • Familiarity with Cabinet Office guidance, Government Commercial Function standards, and social value requirements
  • Strong interpersonal, drafting, communication, and organisational skills; able to handle competing priorities
  • Collaborative, team-oriented, and capable of working across multi-office teams; able to work independently when needed
