Overview

In this Senior Associate role, you will support high-profile public inquiries, inquests and public law matters within the PIIPL team in London. You will act as a solicitor on inquiries, lead or assist on investigations and provide strategic legal advice to the Inquiry Team and stakeholders. You will manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects, including large-scale disclosure and information management efforts, while developing junior team members. The role offers a chance to influence public-interest work and collaborate with a expert, cross-functional team to deliver impactful outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a supporting Solicitor to inquiries (statutory and non-statutory)
  • Undertake internal investigations and independent reviews
  • Provide legal advice to the Inquiry Team and manage relationships with core participants, witnesses and document providers
  • Lead or manage complex multi-disciplinary and large-scale projects
  • Oversee and contribute to large-scale disclosure/e-disclosure/document production
  • Advise on merits of defending judicial review claims and JR grounds
  • Advise on litigation related to national security matters
  • Plan and implement strategies to deliver against client needs
  • Lead document-heavy review processes to identify relevant materials
  • Provide witness instructions and support ahead of oral evidence
  • Supervise and develop junior team members
  • Work flexibly across workstreams, delegating to maximise efficiency

Key requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor with 3+ years PQE in litigation
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Strong litigation and project management skills
  • Experience with large-scale disclosure exercises or big commercial litigation projects
  • Analytical, proactive and well-organised with excellent communication
  • Commercial awareness and some business development exposure
