Overview
In this role you support and advise on public inquiries and inquests, handling complex legal and investigative work. You will back senior solicitors, contribute to strategy, and manage cross-functional projects within the PIIPL team. The role involves advisory work, witness preparation, and multi-stream delivery, with opportunities to influence public-law outcomes. Responsibilities
- Support or lead inquiries and independent reviews as a solicitor
- Provide legal advice to the Inquiry Team and manage relationships with legal representatives, core participants, witnesses, and document providers
- Handle or lead complex, multi-disciplinary, large-scale projects including disclosure/e-disclosure and information management
- Advise on public law challenges, including merits of judicial reviews and grounds for JR
- Advise on litigation related to national security matters
- Plan, define and implement delivery strategies aligned with client needs
- Give clear witness instructions and support witnesses ahead of oral evidence
- Work flexibly across workstreams and delegate tasks to maximise efficiency
