This is a hands‑on role where you will play a key part in delivering day‑to‑day business development and marketing support. You’ll work in close partnership with our Commercial practice teams — including Partners, fee earners and knowledge lawyers — as well as colleagues across business development, sectors, marketing, client engagement and bids. As the business development and marketing lead for your service areas, you’ll shape and deliver growth plans, identify new client opportunities, and help position the firm strongly in the market. You will report to a Business Development Manager.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own the development and delivery of service line business development plans, using market insight and expertise to drive measurable progress against growth objectives.
- Contribute expert service team insight into sector go‑to‑market plans, working closely with sector leads to support the delivery of sector strategies and objectives.
- Co‑ordinate opportunity identification and pipeline management, including research, tracking opportunities and managing follow‑up activities.
- Increase new business win rates by leading the production of timely, high‑quality proposals, credentials, pitches and presentations, and by actively supporting the bids team on relevant tenders.
- Deliver effective go‑to‑market activity through carefully targeted campaigns, communications and content, and PR support, aligned to planning objectives.
- Plan and deliver high quality and impactful events that generate leads, strengthen relationships and showcase expertise.
- Demonstrate strong commercial awareness through effective budget and supplier management, with a consistent focus on maximising ROI.
Skills and Experiences
- Experience in a business development or marketing role within a professional service or similarly regulated environment.
- Experience supporting bids, client development activity or sector campaigns.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel) with the ability to produce high‑quality pitch documents, reports and presentations.
- Experience of using CRM systems and managing contact/data quality.
- Excellent written skills, with the ability to draft clear, persuasive content for bids, proposals and client communications.
- Ability to identify opportunities and develop practical solutions to support business development objectives.
- Confident communicator, able to build effective relationships with fee earners and business services colleagues at all levels.
- Ability to manage and coordinate projects, supporting delivery from planning through to completion.
- Able to take ownership of defined workstreams within larger BD initiatives.
- Ability to analyse data and produce clear, insight‑led reports to support decision‑making and track BD performance.
- Demonstrates commercial awareness, with the ability to support budget management and maximise return on investment.
- Ideally qualified to degree level or equivalent (equivalent experience will be considered).
