Role Overview
Associate (0–3 PQE) to join the Commercial & Regulatory sub‑team within the Future Energy group. The role is full‑time, permanent and based in London or Bristol on a hybrid basis. The sub‑team provides commercial and regulatory advice across the energy sector, working closely with adjacent teams and delivering complex, high‑quality matters.
Responsibilities
- Advising on energy offtake and route‑to‑market arrangements, including corporate, utility and private wire PPAs, battery optimisation structures and ancillary services agreements.
- Supporting clients on government support schemes and market mechanisms, such as CfDs, Capacity Market, Renewables Obligation, Feed‑in Tariff, REGOs, LDES and interconnector regimes.
- Providing guidance on energy regulation, including legislative frameworks, licence conditions, industry codes, price controls and ongoing compliance matters.
- Assisting with grid connection and charging arrangements, including connection agreements and the TMO4+ reform process.
- Advising on heat network projects and related regulatory, commercial and project matters.
- Addressing green gas arrangements and related energy transition initiatives.
Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor (SRA or Law Society registered) with 0–3 PQE (or equivalent).
- Strong interest and knowledge in the energy sector.
- Experience in energy regulation and/or commercial and transactional work, preferably in the UK and/or Irish market.
- Excellent analytical and drafting skills with confidence in handling complex legal and regulatory issues.
- Motivated, intellectually curious and determined to develop a long‑term practice in energy.
