Warehouse Solution Design Manager . This is a key opportunity within a pivotal period of business growth, focused on
warehouse design, operational modelling, simulation and network optimisation
across a complex logistics operation. Reporting into the
Head of Warehouse Design and Compliance , you will combine strong operational knowledge with analytical and commercial thinking to develop solutions that improve
performance, productivity, customer service, efficiency and scalability . Working as part of a specialist team, you will challenge existing ways of working, analyse current operations and develop innovative solutions across the warehouse network. You will use data, modelling and simulation to test different scenarios, assess operational risks and provide clear recommendations around
cost, ROI, service levels, labour requirements, space utilisation and future scalability . The role will also involve overseeing design documentation, proposals and approval processes, ensuring solutions are well evidenced, commercially viable and capable of being implemented successfully. Key Responsibilities Analyse existing warehouse operations, processes and working practices to identify opportunities for
improvement, optimisation and innovation . Design, model and simulate warehouse operations to assess
throughput, labour productivity, resource requirements, capacity and space utilisation . Build, develop and validate operational models to support warehouse design, network optimisation and future-state planning. Undertake
stress testing and scenario analysis
to understand the impact of operational changes before implementation. Develop and evaluate different warehouse layouts, processes and operating models, providing practical and analytical justification for recommended solutions. Define future warehouse designs and operational strategies, considering
cost, ROI, service, operational risk and scalability . Produce commercially focused business cases and recommendations for warehouse and distribution improvement projects. Challenge existing processes and practices, identifying opportunities to introduce
new technologies, automation, industry trends and innovative operating solutions . Work closely with operational, central and project teams to ensure proposed solutions are both analytically robust and practical to implement. Translate complex operational and financial data into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders. Prepare and maintain
warehouse design documentation, proposals, models and supporting analysis . Manage the proposal and approval process for design solutions, ensuring all relevant commercial, operational and financial considerations have been addressed. Support wider continuous improvement and network optimisation initiatives across the business. Provide analytical and operational insight to support strategic warehouse planning and future network requirements. Travel regularly to operational sites across the Midlands and Southern UK to understand site requirements, validate assumptions and support project delivery. Key Requirements Proven experience working within
warehouse solution design, warehouse design, logistics engineering, solutions engineering or a similar role . Strong practical experience in
warehouse modelling, warehouse layout design, simulation and operational scenario testing . Proven ability to build and validate operational models and use data to develop effective warehouse strategies. Experience using warehouse modelling and simulation tools such as
Infios, AnyLogic, Autodesk FlexSim, CreateASoft (Simcad)
or similar. Strong understanding of warehouse operations, logistics and wider supply chain environments. Experience analysing
throughput, labour productivity, capacity, resource utilisation and space utilisation . Strong analytical capability, with the ability to assess operational performance and identify commercially viable improvements. Financial modelling and commercial awareness, with the ability to evaluate
cost, ROI and business case justification . Strong knowledge of warehouse design principles and the ability to develop scalable future-state solutions. Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge existing practices and present recommendations to senior stakeholders. Advanced Microsoft
Excel and PowerPoint
skills. Experience with design and layout tools such as
AutoCAD, SketchUp
or similar would be highly advantageous. A genuine interest in
warehouse automation, emerging technologies and developments within the logistics and supply chain sector . Highly analytical, creative and solutions-focused, with the ability to combine data with practical operational thinking. Willingness to travel regularly to operational sites across the Midlands and Southern UK. Salary & Benefits Up to £65,000 salary Circa £5,500 car allowance Annual bonus of approximately 1015%
