Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Transport Manager to run daily transport operations for a UK leading supplier of plumbing and drainage materials, at their Rochester branch while supporting compliance across additional sites. You’ll lead drivers, ensure legal compliance, manage fleet performance, and maintain FORS Silver accreditation and the company O Licence. This role is 80% Rochester-based with occasional travel to the company’s other branches.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day transport operations and route planning
- Ensure on-time deliveries and high customer service standards
- Maintain FORS and Operator’s Licence (O Licence) compliance across multiple sites
- Oversee vehicle checks, maintenance, and transport documentation
- Lead, motivate, and manage drivers and agency staff
- Monitor KPIs, analyse performance data, and produce reports
- Control fuel usage, overtime, and agency labour costs
- Ensure Health & Safety and legal transport standards are met
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Transport Manager CPC
- FORS Practitioner
- Experience managing a company O Licence
- Strong knowledge of UK transport law & compliance
- Experience leading drivers / transport teams
- Route planning and fleet management experience
- Full UK Driving Licence
Also important:
- Strong organisation and time management
- Confident decision-maker under pressure
- Commercial awareness and cost control focus
- Excellent communication and people management skills
You’ll Work Closely With Operations leadership, sales, warehouse, administration teams, drivers, and vehicle service providers.
Remuneration:
- Salary - £50K - £60K
- Monday to Friday (45hr week)
- Hours around 7:30am-4:30pm (flexibility required)
- Discretionary Bonus (To be discussed)
- 25 days holiday & Bank Holidays
- Company Pension Scheme
