Are you a commercially minded Product Manager who loves spotting opportunities, building great product ranges and getting new products off the ground? This industry-leading provider of business supplies and services continues to grow and they’re looking for an experienced Product Manager. This is a great opportunity to take real ownership of a product portfolio, build strong supplier relationships and have a genuine impact on sales and profitability.

You’ll be joining a busy Group Buying team, working across product, purchasing, suppliers and sales to make sure customers get the right products, at the right price, at the right time.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Take ownership of product ranges across a number of sales channels
  • Build and develop strong, long-term supplier relationships
  • Negotiate pricing, terms and commercial agreements
  • Identify new products and opportunities to grow the range
  • Keep an eye on market trends, competitors and what customers are looking for
  • Work with suppliers to improve performance and resolve any issues
  • Support category plans and help drive sales and margin
  • Get involved in tenders, sourcing products and negotiating with suppliers
  • Work closely with Purchasing, Inventory, Marketing and Operations teams
  • Keep product and supplier activity compliant with company standards

What we’re looking for:

  • Someone who is commercially switched-on, confident dealing with suppliers and enjoys making things happen.
  • Experience in Product Management, Buying, Purchasing or Category Management
  • Supplier negotiation and relationship management
  • Analysing data and using it to make commercial decisions
  • Managing several projects and priorities at once
  • Working with manufacturers and well-known brands
  • Communicating confidently with suppliers and internal teams
  • Organised, commercially curious and comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do.

Nice to have:

Experience within the business supplies and services sector would be useful, but it’s not essential.

How to prepare for a job interview at TLP

Understand the Product Life Cycle

As a product management candidate, we need to get our head around the complete product life cycle. Be prepared to discuss real-world examples of how you’ve managed product development from ideation to launch. Bring specific insights on tools like JIRA or Trello that can help streamline these processes.

Showcase Your Cross-Functional Skills

Product management is all about collaboration. We should be ready to highlight how we’ve worked across teams—think marketing, engineering, and design. Prepare to discuss scenarios where you had to mediate differing opinions and how you got everyone on board with a shared vision.

Prepare for Case Studies

In a full-time role, we can expect to encounter case study questions during our interviews. Practise solving hypothetical product problems on the spot, such as prioritising features for a new app or improving user engagement metrics. This will show our analytical thinking and decision-making skills.

Know Your Metrics

Let’s face it, numbers are our best friends in product management. We should prepare to discuss key performance indicators (KPIs) and how we've used analytics to inform product decisions. Dive into examples where data has driven our strategy for improvements or justified product changes.
