About the Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Business Development Manager to join an established multimodal freight forwarding and logistics business based in the Folkestone/Dover area. You will focus on new business development, identifying and winning regular trading customers across road, sea, air and courier freight, while also identifying opportunities across warehousing and customs services. The role would suit a commercially driven Freight Sales, Logistics Sales or Business Development professional who enjoys winning new customers, developing relationships and growing revenue.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities across road, sea, air and courier freight
- Source and secure new, regular and profitable customers
- Identify opportunities across warehousing and customs
- Identify and convert new clients, markets and commercial opportunities
- Develop additional opportunities with existing clients
- Work alongside the operations team to ensure a high level of service to customers
- Ensure clear and profitable margins across accounts and jobs
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Attend customer meetings and develop relationships across the local market
- Identify opportunities to increase revenue and strengthen the customer base
Key Requirements
- Previous experience in freight forwarding or logistics sales - Essential
- Proven track record in Air, Sea or Road Freight Sales
- Strong knowledge of transport and international logistics
- Proven ability to develop new business
- Strong negotiation and commercial skills
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building abilities
- Positive, resilient and self-motivated approach
- Strong communication skills
- High IT literacy
- Full UK driving licence
