Freight Forwarding Assistant

Location: Immingham, UK
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 DOE
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Schedule: Monday Friday | 8:00am 4:30pm | 42.5 hours per week

About the Role

We are recruiting for a motivated Freight Forwarding Assistant to join a growing road freight and transport operation based in Immingham.

Working as part of an established team, you will be required to assist and oversee the smooth running of the companys forwarding activities on behalf of their owners and parent company.

This will potentially include quotation through to invoicing and everything in between.

This is an excellent opportunity for keen freight professional who enjoys working within a fast-paced logistics environment and wants to play a key role in supporting the continued growth of a successful transport business.

Key Responsibilities / Job Requirements

  • Conversant in Import and Export Customs formalities both in the UK and abroad inclusive of customs entries for both import and export.

Experience using Destin8 would be an advantage.

  • Be responsible for import and export bookings (primarily imports)
  • Have a good understanding for the various shipping lines serving the Iberian, Italian, Benelux and Chinese markets.
  • Have a practical understanding of road freight operations within the EU.
  • Be an effective negotiator for the various parts of the logistics chain, especially towards rate negotiations with shipping lines and hauliers.
  • Be able to work on your own or within a group / team environment.
  • Be proactive in problem solving with an ability to think outside the box.
  • Be able to communicate to all levels.
  • Have a good understanding of excel and micro-soft word.
  • Be able to develop best in class operational and service levels towards our customers.
