Transport Manager Required for 3PL Operations.
Join one of the UK’s most successful 3PL providers at their site situated in the Andover area. This is a well-run and efficient operation, housing a small fleet of Class 1 HGVs operating both day and night movements for customers across the retail and commercial sectors.
As named Transport Manager, you will manage the day-to-day transport operation and provide effective management of resources. Your role will involve working and aligning with a team of managers, supervisors, and drivers, and implementing strategies to enhance operational performance while fully adhering to all legal compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead the depot's operation, customer service, policies, procedures, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customer experience.
- Collaborate with other departments onsite, such as operations, commercial, and planning, to drive synergies and solutions for both internal and external customers.
- Ensure compliance and implementation of group HR policies, procedures, and programs to support the recruitment, retention, and development of staff.
- Ensure absolute adherence to the company's Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Lead performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, and career development planning, to support employee growth and development.
- Develop and implement training and development programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of employees at all levels of the transport team.
- P&L ownership/management for your Transport department.
- Work with both Regional and Divisional managers in alignment with company goals and strategic objectives.
- Prepare and manage depot budgets.
- Assist with the development of pricing strategies.
Transport Manager Requirements:
- National Transport Manager CPC Holder.
- Experience of managing financial P&Ls.
- Experience using a broad range of TMS systems.
- Excellent man management and people skills.
- Management of a large site-based multi-customer operation.
- Experience of managing in a large site-based multi-customer transport.
- Strong understanding of central transport functions and understanding the role and support given to local site teams (desirable).
- Experience of continuous improvement initiatives.
