TLP Recruitment are working with a well-established logistics company in Eastleigh looking for a Transport Operator to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient planning and execution of daily transport schedules, ensuring optimal use of resources, compliance with legislation, and excellent service levels.
Key Responsibilities:- Efficiently allocate drivers, vehicles, and loads using in-house IT systems.
- Communicate transport plans to internal teams and external clients.
- Manage staffing levels, including agency resources, to meet operational requirements.
- Approve and audit driver hours to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
- Liaise with key departments such as warehouse, workshop, and customer service to ensure seamless operations.
- Participate in cross-training and support team cover when needed.
- Promote continuous improvement across transport operations.
- Maintain a high standard of health, safety, and housekeeping practices.
- Conduct thorough driver debriefs and update manifests and KPIs accordingly.
- Proven experience in a similar transport/logistics role.
- Strong knowledge of: The Highway Code, EU Tachograph Regulations, Working Time Directive, Road Transport Regulations.
- Familiarity with transport operation systems.
- Good UK geographic knowledge.
- Understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
- A logistics qualification (desirable).
- Analytical problem-solving skills.
