A leading logistics, transport and distribution company in Leeds is looking for an experienced Senior Transport Planner to coordinate daily fleet operations. This role supports a national distribution network covering warehousing, storage, and 3PL contract logistics. You’ll be responsible for planning routes, allocating vehicles and drivers, and ensuring deliveries run efficiently, safely, and on time. This is a key position within a growing operation, offering stability and long-term development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage daily transport operations for a fleet of 40 HGV vehicles
- Route planning and vehicle scheduling to maximise efficiency and service levels
- Allocate drivers and vehicles based on load requirements and availability
- Use TMS (Transport Management Systems) and GPS tracking to monitor vehicle movements
- Create and issue driver manifests, delivery schedules and transport documentation
- Track deliveries and provide progress updates to internal teams and customers
- Liaise with drivers, warehouse teams, customer service, hauliers and 3PL partners
- Conduct driver briefs and debriefs
- Input and maintain accurate transport data and operational records
- Identify performance trends and opportunities for continuous improvement
Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Transport Planner or Transport Coordinator role
- National/International CPC
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Confident working in a fast-paced logistics or distribution environment
- Live within commuting distance of Yeadon, Leeds
Highly Desirable:
- Experience using MANDATA TMS
Salary & Benefits
- Up to £45,000.00 per annum
- Monday–Friday working (day shift)
- 20 days holiday + 8 Bank Holidays
