Are you an experienced Forklift Driver or Tug Driver looking for a secure and long-term opportunity? TLP Recruitment is currently recruiting reliable and skilled individuals for an ongoing position at a modern, purpose-built facility in Harwich, Essex. This is an excellent chance to join a friendly and established team in a varied and rewarding role that offers stability. This position involves a combination of Tug operation, forklift operation and manual handling tasks. Applicants must be flexible, as the site operates across 7 days with a mixture of morning and evening shifts, typically ranging from 6 to 9 hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Forklift Driver Duties:
- Operating forklifts to load/unload trailers and distribute stock
- Manual handling, including unloading, loading, reworking, and general housekeeping
- Working in varied environments including warehouse, outside operations, and chilled areas
- Operating Powered Pallet Trucks (PPTs)
- Operating a tug to shunt and position trailers safely
- Communicating with supervisors to report on progress and issues
- Coordinating yard activities and dealing with HGV drivers
- Liaising with port authorities to carry out product checks on EU imports
- Manually unloading items from trailers and repacking them
- Maintaining cleanliness of all working areas post-turnouts
- Reporting any site concerns or incidents to supervisors

What We’re Looking For
- Valid UK driving licence
- Valid forklift licence with proven experience
- Tug-driving experience is desirable but not essential
- Willingness to undergo a DBS check, site induction, and medical assessment
- A flexible and proactive attitude, especially regarding shifts and weekend work
