ROLE PURPOSE
To support the preparation, cooking, and presentation of authentic Caribbean food at Jerk & Sizzle, delivering high-quality dishes consistently while maintaining excellent food safety, cleanliness, and kitchen standards in a fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare and cook menu items to Jerk & Sizzle recipes, specifications, and quality standards.
- Support service during busy periods, ensuring food is delivered quickly, correctly, and consistently.
- Assist with prep tasks including marinating, chopping, portioning, and batching.
- Ensure correct portion control to minimise waste and maintain food cost targets.
- Plate food neatly and consistently in line with brand standards.
- Kitchen Operations & Hygiene
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation at all times.
- Follow food hygiene, health & safety, and HACCP procedures.
- Ensure correct storage, labelling, and rotation of food (FIFO).
- Clean down workstations, equipment, and kitchen areas during and after shifts.
- Report any maintenance issues, faulty equipment, or safety concerns immediately.
- Stock & Waste Control
- Assist with stock rotation, deliveries, and storage.
- Minimise food waste through correct preparation, portioning, and storage.
- Inform management of low stock levels or quality issues.
- Follow wastage recording procedures where required.
- Teamwork & Communication
- Work effectively as part of the kitchen team and communicate clearly during service.
- Support front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction.
- Follow instructions from the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.
- Maintain a positive, respectful attitude in a high-pressure environment.
- Standards & Compliance
- Follow all Company policies and reasonable management instructions.
- Maintain personal hygiene standards, including correct uniform and PPE where required.
- Ensure compliance with licensing, allergen awareness, and food safety requirements.
- Protect Company confidentiality, including recipes, suppliers, and operational processes.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
