Are you an experienced M&E Pre-Construction Director, Head of Pre-Construction or Operations Manager looking to join one of London's leading M&E contractors? Our client is a well-established £150m turnover M&E contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering complex projects across the residential, mixed-use and commercial sectors. With a portfolio of schemes ranging from £5m to £50m M&E, they continue to secure landmark projects throughout London and the South East.
Due to sustained growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are now seeking an experienced M&E Pre-Construction Director to lead their pre-construction function from their Central London office.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take overall responsibility for the company's pre-construction department, leading a team of experienced engineers and ensuring the successful delivery of all pre-construction activities from initial enquiry through to project handover to the delivery teams. This is a senior leadership position offering genuine influence over business strategy, project wins and operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the company's M&E pre-construction function.
- Oversee multiple major tenders and negotiated projects simultaneously.
- Manage and mentor a team of pre-construction engineers.
- Work closely with the Managing Director to develop business strategy and secure future opportunities.
- Review technical submissions, value engineering proposals and project programmes.
- Coordinate with estimating, commercial, design and operational teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Attend client meetings and presentations, building strong relationships with developers, consultants and main contractors.
- Ensure projects are commercially viable and technically robust before construction commences.
- Drive continuous improvement across all pre-construction processes.
Requirements
- Relevant Mechanical or Electrical qualification.
- Proven experience managing pre-construction activities on major M&E projects.
- Strong leadership experience managing teams within an M&E contractor.
- Experience delivering projects valued up to £50m M&E is highly desirable.
- Excellent commercial awareness and technical knowledge.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
- Candidates currently working as Operations Managers with significant pre-construction responsibility are encouraged to apply.
