About tldraw
tldraw is a London-based Series A startup building software for infinite canvas applications. We are best known for tldraw.com, our free collaborative whiteboard used by millions, and for viral demos like Computer and Make Real. Our commercial product is the tldraw SDK—a React library that lets companies build collaborative canvas experiences into their own products. Our community includes 60k+ X followers, 40k+ GitHub stars, and 6k Discord members. Our customers include Observable, Autodesk, ClickUp, and Shopify.
The role
We’re looking for an engineer to be the technical champion for our customers - demos, POCs, firefighting, whatever it takes to make them successful right through to improving the SDK itself. tldraw’s SDK is a broad and complex product and most customers need technical education and support to fully understand how tldraw can be the answer to their problems. You will build and ship to help with that working closely with both the GTM team and the product engineering team. This is the first role of its kind at tldraw and should be a hugely exciting prospect for the right applicant - offering the ability to shape not just a role but, over time, a whole function.
What you’ll do
- Work alongside the sales team to understand a client’s needs and provide technical reassurance that tldraw can help - by building and presenting demos, helping scope POCs, even advocating for product improvements.
- Straddle the pre-and-post signature implementation kick-off: helping a client get to grips with what they have to do, helping them understand & navigate our documentation, and ensuring they have a clear plan & timeline for their tldraw project.
- Create our implementation framework - a ‘product’ that you’d build and own to set customers up to successfully get their tldraw build from 0-1, built in a way that it can adapt to specific clients’ needs.
- Own customer support triage - low volume, high complexity, great fun for a curious engineer.
- Help the GTM team with in-house tooling needs - building on our already-pretty-awesome GTM tech stack.
What you’ll be doing technically
Simply put, you’ll help customers understand how to use & integrate the tldraw SDK. Your work will involve:
- Helping customers plan and scope SDK integration with existing products.
- Guiding customers through developer resources.
- Building demos, resources, and integration guides.
- Debugging customer React/TypeScript integration issues.
- Helping developers implement SDK features (custom shapes, tools, and UI).
- Troubleshooting integration conflicts.
- Translating customer feedback into product improvements.
What we’re looking for
Technical skills:- 5+ years building modern web applications with React and TypeScript.
- Strong debugging skills, tracing issues through component hierarchies, CSS specificity conflicts, and bundler configurations.
- Experience integrating third-party libraries and SDKs into projects.
- Comfortable reading and understanding unfamiliar codebases quickly.
- 2+ years working directly with clients on technical implementations (Solutions Engineering, Technical Support, Implementation, Customer Success).
- Experience project managing multiple stakeholders, including external clients.
- Strong written communication, able to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Motivated by solving problems and helping developers succeed.
- Comfortable in an early-stage environment with evolving processes.
- Self-directed and organized; you get things done with minimal oversight.
- Experience at a developer tools company or working with SDKs.
- Background in canvas/design tools (Figma, Miro, Canva, etc.).
- Familiarity with real-time collaboration systems (WebSockets, presence, sync).
- Experience building out an implementation or customer success function from scratch.
What you’ll get
- Competitive salary and stock options.
- Private health insurance (Vitality).
- Hybrid working with 4 days a week in our London office.
- 25 days annual leave + public holidays.
- Equipment allowance for your ideal setup.
