Overview
The purpose of the Quality Technologist role is to be the quality point of contact in the refinery. To report and follow up on daily issues to identify deviations and trends as well as participate in site wide actions groups as required.
To initiate quality improvements within T&L Sugars using experience gained in the food and /or sugar industry to define best practice and therefore anticipate our customers requirements. Key aspects of this role are supporting the Quality Assurance Manager and wider Quality Team, building relationships with the factory teams and embedding Quality within the Thames site. The Quality Technologist will be expected to work closely with personnel from a wide range of functions within T&L Sugars factory facing operation teams and our customers.
Detailed Roles & Responsibilities
- To review daily Quality information and attend operation meetings as the quality representative.
- Complete daily reports with accurate and factual information.
- Incident management, including quick risk assessment of potential quality and/or food safety issues.
- To drive improvements in the sites Food Safety and Quality Systems
- Active participation in the internal audit program, traceability exercises and GFSI and Third Party audits for the site.
- Complete quality sign offs as required and participate in site trials.
- Develop and ensure Food Safety work permits are in place for all relevant works and completed appropriately
- Conduct site wide GMP audits and Gemba walks as per schedule.
- Engage with other functions to maintaining an up-to-date HACCP plan, supporting the sites HACCP team leader.
- Customer relations managements including customer queries and or customer audit findings/CAPAs.
- To drive Continuous Improvements in the sites Quality Culture.
Work Experiences
Experience in a factory facing quality role.
Experience of sugar and/or food industry best practice.
Exposure to customer interface, either as a supplier to industry or retailers.
Education Requirements
Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline (Food Science or related subject) or equivalent.
Essential Capabilities (knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Personal Attributes)
- Knowledge of relevant Food Safety and Quality systems and their implementation such as HACCP and Root Cause Analysis.
- Internal audit skills.
- Ability to communicate best practice knowledge at various levels.
- The ability to influence people who may have conflicting priorities
- Strong organizational, planning and decision making abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications such as EXCEL, Outlook, Power Point and Visio
- Desirable knowledge of SharePoint, Redzone and/or SAP software.
