Machine Operator

Position Scope

To safely operate, maintain and improve a packing line to meet the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) plan cost effectively and to agreed customer requirements.

Shift

• Week 1 – 3 days shifts (Wed, Thu, Fri)
• Week 2 – 3 night shifts (Mon, Tue, Wed)
• Week 3 – 2 days shifts (Mon, Tue) & 2 night shifts (Thu, Fri)
• Revert to Week 1 etc.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Operate packing line(s) and other offline equipment to meet safety, environmental, quality, hygiene and output standards.
• Complete required quality checks, compare results against specified parameters and follow company quality procedures for action where required.
• Adjust plant when appropriate to ensure agreed specifications are maintained.
• Use FLTs to supply lines with packaging equipment.
• Use knowledge and experience to anticipate problems where possible and to solve problems when they occur using relevant CI tools.
• Record quality and performance data, and monitor line performance trends and material usage, taking corrective action where appropriate.
• Clearly communicate handover information and issues within packing team of operators and maintenance technicians.
• Involvement in continuous improvement projects where appropriate.

Essential Education Requirements

• Basic numeracy and literacy skills, educated to at least 4 GCSEs or the equivalent.
