The predicted salary is between 22.5 - 27.5 Β£ per hour.

TKS Training is looking for an experienced and qualified Welding Assessor to support learners completing competence-based welding and fabrication qualifications. This is a freelance opportunity suited to an experienced assessor who already has strong occupational competence within welding/fabrication and is comfortable assessing learners in the workplace.

The Role

  • Managing your own learner caseload
  • Planning and carrying out workplace assessments
  • Reviewing learner evidence and providing clear feedback
  • Conducting professional discussions and knowledge questioning
  • Completing assessment records accurately and promptly
  • Supporting learners to progress through their qualification
  • Working closely with TKS Training's IQA and quality team
  • Using our online e-portfolio system to record assessment activity
  • Taking part in standardisation and quality assurance activity when required

Essential Requirements

  • Applicants must already hold a recognised assessor qualification, such as:
    • A1 Assessor Award
    • D32 / D33
    • CAVA
    • TAQA Assessor qualification
    • Or an accepted equivalent
  • You must also have:
    • Strong occupational experience within welding and/or fabrication
    • A relevant welding/fabrication qualification at Level 3 or above, or equivalent demonstrable occupational competence
    • Current or recent industry experience
    • Good understanding of workplace assessment and evidence requirements
    • Strong communication and organisational skills
    • Ability to work independently and manage your own caseload
    • Confidence using digital systems and e-portfolios
    • Previous experience assessing NVQs or other competence-based qualifications within welding, fabrication or engineering is strongly preferred.

TKS Training delivers vocational qualifications to experienced workers across the UK, working with a range of awarding organisations including NOCN and ProQual. We are growing our network of experienced freelance assessors across specialist construction and engineering occupations. This role may suit assessors already working freelance or those looking to add an additional flexible caseload alongside their existing work.

This is an assessor position, not a trainee assessor role. If you are an experienced welder or fabricator but do not currently hold a recognised assessor qualification, unfortunately we will not be able to progress your application for this role.
