The AP (R&A) will be responsible for the creation and delivery of a variety of digital content, including on trend, short-form content, longer story-telling features and covering the R&A’s extensive portfolio of events for their web and social channels. The team travel to both The Open and Women’s Open, as well as ten amateur events throughout the year, across Great Britain & Ireland, Europe, and long-haul around the world.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Shooting and editing content briefed by the R&A Production team and the R&A Producer to support the delivery of the 2026 content plan.
- Understanding the R&A objectives and ensuring that the content produced reflects their tone of voice and values.
- Producing small-scale shoots, with an understanding of production requirements including planning, kit, crew, and health & safety.
- Filming on location at various golf venues and locations across the UK, using cameras including Sony FX6 and FX3.
- Participating in single and multi-camera shoots, conducting interviews with contributors where necessary.
- Editing features, promos and social video using Adobe Suite.
- Work closely with motion graphics producer to enhance content output.
- Managing deliverables and timelines to effectively deliver content with a short lead time.
- Offer creative and editorial ideas for projects and content deliverables when necessary.
- Execute any other ad hoc content requirements from the client that sit outside of the 2026 content plan.
Skills and Abilities
- Filming on various cameras including Sony FX6 and FX3.
- Editing on Adobe Premiere.
- Experience conducting interviews, writing engaging scripts, and developing narratives.
- Ability to manage a small production unit/team.
- Previous experience as part of a digital content team.
- An understanding of Adobe After Effects.
Knowledge and Experience
- A good understanding of digital content production processes and experience creating and delivering content for social and web channels.
- A keen understanding of all digital and linear platforms from OTT to broadcast to social media and understanding the types of content that resonate on each platform.
- Production experience in a (live) sports environment.
- Professional experience filming on various cameras including Sony FX6 and FX3.
- Strong editorial skills, including experience conducting interviews, writing engaging scripts, and developing narratives.
- Ability to manage small production units with the support of production management teams.
- Good editing skills, preferably using Adobe Premiere. Ability to quickly produce timelines, rough cuts, polished edits, and an understanding of Adobe After Effects is advantageous.
- Project or client management related experience within a production or integrated agency.
- Problem solving attitude and demonstration of initiative in high pressure environments.
- An interest in sport (some knowledge of golf is advantageous).
Working Conditions
- Flexible hours and occasional weekend work, especially in summer months.
- You will be required to travel internationally to shoots.
- You may be required to work at any of our various London offices or at the R&A’s offices at St Andrews.
