About This Position

The Food Service Supervisor supervises inmate labor and team members assisting with food service in a correctional facility. Responsibilities include preparing and serving food according to menus and work instructions, utilizing food prep utensils and machines.

Ideal candidates are passionate about food and service, understand food handling regulations, eager to learn, able to work independently and as part of a team, adaptable, dependable, and flexible.

Essential Functions/Core Responsibilities

1. Supervise inmate labor and team members during food prep and service shifts.
2. Assist or instruct in food preparation according to menus and recipes.
3. Ensure proper and sanitary food storage.
4. Serve food according to schedule and policies.
5. Use kitchen utensils/equipment to prepare and serve food, meeting nutritional standards.
6. Follow food safety regulations.
7. Train other food service workers.
8. Maintain cleanliness of work environment, including refrigerators, equipment, and floors.
9. Adhere to uniform policy.
10. Manage garbage and keep kitchen tidy.
11. Ensure environment is ready for food prep/serving.
12. Review portion sizes and utensils for service.
13. Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
14. Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent; must be at least 18 years old.
• Preferred: Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience.
