The Role of the SEN Teacher: You will teach a range of core subjects (e.g. English, Maths, Science, Humanities) tailored to students functioning at lower Key Stages. Some of your students may be taught by specialist teachers e.g. Design Technology, Drama and P.E. This will involve liaising and collaborating with key stage three teachers to adapt the curriculum, monitor progress and plan for reintegration. You will play a role in teaching Phonics to secure key literacy skills for our weakest readers. Provide high-quality pastoral care and manage the daily transition into school. Forge excellent home-school relationships and provide regular feedback to parents/carers. Work closely with the Assistant Headteacher and SENCO to implement EHCP requirements and track small-step progress. Work with subject specialists to ensure your students receive a rich, balanced, but accessible education.
