Orchards Academy in Swanley is seeking a visionary Teacher of Design & Technology to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4. Reporting directly to the Senior Leadership Team, you will deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons that foster a love for innovation while ensuring outstanding progress for all learners, including those with SEND. You will lead a vibrant extra-curricular programme and serve as a dedicated Form Tutor. You will contribute to curriculum development and creative resource management as part of the TKAT family, supporting the charity and inclusive ethos of the school.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, differentiated Design & Technology lessons for Key Stages 3 and 4, promoting student progress and engagement.
- Lead a vibrant extra-curricular programme and act as a dedicated Form Tutor.
- Contribute to curriculum development and creative resource management to support teaching and learning.
- Maintain safeguarding and promote the welfare of every pupil as part of school obligations.
- Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support student achievement and wellbeing.
Qualifications & Experience
- QTS and a degree in Design & Technology or a related subject.
- Proven track record of high student achievement at GCSE or BTEC.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the national curriculum and the ability to utilise specialist DT equipment and technology effectively for both composition and performance.
- Resilient, enthusiastic professional with exceptional classroom management skills and a genuine passion for Design & Technology education.
- Strong communication skills for engaging with students, parents, and staff and maintaining high academic expectations and pupil well-being.
