This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading organisation on a 12-month fixed-term contract, supporting key projects and ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance across site operations.
Job purpose
To provide health, safety and environmental leadership on site, offering expert guidance to ensure legal compliance and the effective implementation of HSE processes, procedures and standards across the business.
Key responsibilities
- Promote and implement HSE processes and procedures across site activities
- Lead on goal setting, performance monitoring and reporting
- Drive initiatives in ergonomics, industrial hygiene, training and injury prevention
- Identify hazards and risks, providing practical solutions and continuous improvement strategies
- Conduct site audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with legislation and company standards
- Prepare monthly HSE reports and performance updates
- Deliver health and safety training across all levels of the organisation
- Support accident and incident investigations, including root cause analysis and reporting
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental standards
- Support employee development, skills progression and competency tracking
- Coordinate HSE training requirements with the UK Training Manager
- Provide direction and mentoring to installation teams
- Review risk assessments, RAMS and safe systems of work from an HSE perspective
- Work closely with site and project management teams to ensure safe delivery of works
- Represent the business in client and contractor meetings
- Maintain and manage project-specific health and safety plans
- Participate in senior management site tours and safety initiatives
Key performance indicators
- Daily site presence during installation activities, including monitoring of LMRAs and works
- Active involvement during high-risk activities
- Conduct and report on regular site visits
- Support and coach colleagues in job site visit processes
- Track and report leading indicators, including near miss reporting
- Deliver weekly toolbox talks
- Support continuous improvement of risk assessments
- Manage and report on HSEQ training completion, targeting 100% compliance
- Lead accident and incident investigations through to closure within 30 days
Education
- NEBOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification (minimum Level 3) essential
- IOSH Diploma or equivalent desirable
Skills and experience
- Proven experience within general health and safety systems
- Experience working to ISO45001 standards and participating in audits
- Strong background in risk assessment and incident investigation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and SharePoint
- Ability to deliver training to employees and managers
- Knowledge of HSE systems and digital tools desirable
- Lead Auditor ISO45001 desirable
- Experience within lifting and rigging, construction, or lifts and escalators installation preferred
