Job Summary
The Store Design Fixture Manager role is key to delivering the always-on pipeline of fixture innovation for TJX Europe, reporting into the AVP Store Design Europe. Sat within the Property Store Design team, the Fixture Manager will be the point of contact to take briefings on fixture initiatives and find workable solutions that fit with the design, operation and cost model for TK Maxx and Homesense.
Our fixture suite is based on our own bespoke system, called Euroversal, supplemented with some standard items common to our global business. Understanding the principles and engineering the suite is important, so this is not a purely creative role but involves understanding what good looks like in merchandise and store presentation, capacity, safety and cost. The role is cross-functional but also reaches internationally, with potential for helping all the TJX brands as the design teams link globally.
The fixture manager will be a self-starter, good communicator, thinks clearly and enjoys problem solving in a fast-paced environment that often changes as needs clarify or evolve.
Key responsibilities:
- Be part of the design team that forms a clear brief in response to a request from the Shopping Experience team which includes fixture capacity, cost parameters and other performance criteria.
- Develop fixturing design solutions against business needs, using external design teams. This is likely to involve briefing the external teams using sketches, photos or other means, to convey the key elements of the problem and desired outcomes.
- Critique the designs against the business need for the external design team to progress the design into physical prototypes.
- Manage a system to track all fixture innovation work and keep it up to date, pushing for the shortest but realistic timescales possible.
- Ensure date milestones and deadlines are clearly communicated to all those required to deliver the projects and manage the information flow to mitigate delays and expedite solutions.
- Review prototypes and comment / collate comments and feedback to design team or manufacturers as appropriate to ensure final versions are as intended and fit for purpose in terms of operational needs, Health and Safety and any other criteria forming part of the project.
- Document progress and final finished solutions including photographs for a clear audit trail through to approving fixtures for use on the sales floor.
- Manage a wide variety of projects respecting cross-functional service level agreements whilst minimising complexity to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Build professional relationships with external vendors ensuring that critical paths are adhered to in the sourcing & procurement of all in store experience collateral.
- Working cross functionally obtain learnings, best practice that allow Store Design to make informed decisions in the development of all new initiatives.
- Liaise with Property Finance once prototypes are approved, to make the item available for general use and added to the list of available fixtures.
- Manage the costs associated with tests within the Lab store and project manage installation, reviews and removals.
- Coordinate Robust tests with Central and Store operations monitoring feedback and updating designs and costs accordingly.
- Work closely with Central and Store operations on promoting best practice in the execution of merchandise presentation initiatives.
- Some travel would be required visiting vendors, test stores, sites and potential European travel if beneficial to the projects.

- Experience of project management in a retail environment is essential.
- Have excellent communication skills, able to adapt the needs of said audience being confident in influencing cross functional teams.
- Experience working for a large format retailer.
- Must be commercial and numerate and demonstrate creative thinking in their approach.
- Excellent spoken and written English. Other languages are useful but not a requirement of the role.
