Manager of Logistics – Carrier Management
We're looking for a Manager of Logistics – Carrier Management to join our team, responsible for developing, implementing, and embedding supplier strategies that support a resilient, cost-effective, and high-performing logistics network across TJX Europe.
Reporting to the Head of Carrier Management, you will play a critical role in delivering Logistics and Distribution priorities by ensuring the effective management of carrier relationships, supplier performance, commercial agreements, and risk across our logistics network.
Managing a supplier portfolio worth approximately £300m across 10 strategic logistics providers, you will develop and execute carrier management strategies across Europe while leveraging global partnerships and market opportunities where appropriate.
As a member of the Logistics Leadership Team, you will provide strategic direction, drive business performance, develop organisational capability, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead continuous market analysis, monitoring logistics trends, carrier capabilities, industry benchmarks, emerging technologies, and sustainability initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to enhance carrier performance through innovation, market insights, and best practice adoption.
- Define and implement carrier strategies that support TJX Europe's goals for cost efficiency, service reliability, flexibility, and sustainability.
- Partner with key stakeholders including Logistics Operations, Customs, Strategy & Analytics, Distribution Finance, Legal, and Global Sourcing & Procurement to establish measurable KPIs aligned with business objectives and industry standards.
- Segment carriers by service type, geographic coverage, and strategic importance, developing tailored strategies for core and non-core providers.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and strategic logistics partners to drive innovation, continuous improvement, and business performance.
- Lead strategic sourcing activities, logistics tenders, and complex supplier negotiations to secure long-term value and service stability.
- Negotiate and manage multi-year logistics agreements that deliver predictability, resilience, and commercial benefit for TJX Europe.
- Assess carrier financial health and operational resilience, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Develop and implement carrier scorecards, dashboards, and performance frameworks to measure service delivery against agreed KPIs.
- Integrate ESG considerations into supplier selection, evaluation, and performance management processes while ensuring carrier compliance with regional regulations, contractual commitments, and TJX Europe standards.
- Benchmark carrier rates and commercial arrangements, leading contract reviews and renegotiations where required.
- Contribute to Logistics Leadership Team priorities including functional planning, talent development, performance management, succession planning, and objective setting.
Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience leading teams within Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, or Distribution environments at Manager level or above.
- Strong carrier management and supplier relationship management experience, including the development and implementation of strategic supplier programmes.
- Demonstrated success leading logistics tenders, contract negotiations, and managing high-value transportation and logistics service agreements.
- Strong commercial and legal acumen, with the ability to assess risk, balance competing priorities, and make informed business decisions.
- Experience analysing logistics market trends, supplier performance data, and commercial benchmarks to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Proven ability to develop and manage carrier performance frameworks, including KPIs, scorecards, dashboards, service reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business outcomes.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering across Operations, Finance, Procurement, Legal, Customs, Strategy, and external supplier networks.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, drive change, and deliver measurable business improvements.
- Strong leadership and coaching capability, with experience developing high-performing teams and building organisational capability.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and build credibility at all levels.
- Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving logistics environment.
