The closing date for this 12mth FTC role is 24th July 2026. This position provides strategic leadership and management to UK / GBO / IBO TJX Europe Buying Admin Supervisors and Associates. Responsible for the development of the strategic direction of the function, ensuring the effective and consistent execution of Buying Operations within respective office to support any future growth and expansion. Develops and implements short term and long term objectives to ensure the efficient delivery of the service.
Demonstrate strong leadership skills developing a highly effective team that share a sense of ownership and responsibility for joint goals and are respected throughout the business. Identifies talent and nurtures, grows that talent by actively mentoring and providing stretch opportunities in order to create a talent pipeline for the business, and succession planning. Partners with Managers Of Buying Operations, Management within respective office, wider Buying function, and other business areas to develop strong networks, to ensure key business activities are supported and efficiency is enhanced.
Key Responsibilities
- Inputs and/or determines the strategy for the function and implement new strategic projects, socialise and gain engagement across buying and present to senior leaders, ensuring solutions support functional and/or marketplace strategy.
- Use in-depth knowledge of Buying Operations, data and metrics to provide expert advice and reach solutions to problems and improve efficiencies, challenging and being challenged in order to do so.
- Plan initiatives to meet the TJX business objectives, developing processes and procedures to ensure operational efficiencies within the operation department.
- Oversees analysis of work streams and operational activities to ensure team operates at the optimum level of effectiveness and efficiency across all EU offices.
- Manages resources within the team in order to meet the needs and achieve projects objectives and efficiencies within Buying Operations and additional projects throughout the business.
- Manages Buying Operations Team, Supervisor/s and Associates, providing strategic direction, whilst developing the skills and efficiencies within the team and overall function.
- Review productivity, establish standards and address any concerns as needed, ensuring operating standards are achieved.
- Identifies priorities and anticipates shifts in business needs to proactively adapt operations in support of Buying activities, sharing data and information with the relevant parties.
- Partners with all levels in the Buying organisation and act as the primary contact within respective office (DVP Buying / Market Managers) to develop and implement new processes and procedures.
- Monitors and tracks progress of initiatives to ensure work is completed on time within the quality standards established by the function.
- With Supervisors and Business Partners, identifies and partners with HR / L&D to address learning needs/develop new training and learning opportunities for the Supervisors and Associates within the function.
- Trains New Supervisors, coaching them to ensure development of their management and leadership skills and potential, whilst also training and coaching Associates and to allow for succession planning.
- Take responsibility on adhering to head count allocation, whilst ensuring a talent pipeline is being taken into account.
- Uses in-depth understanding of TJX’s business strategies including off-price fundamentals, organisational structure, company operations, respective office policies and practices, ensuring they are embedded throughout the function.
- Partner with Functions within respective office (i.e. Finance, HR, Office Management) to download local policies to the team.
- Lead the team using a performance management and development process that provides an overall context and framework to encourage employee contribution and includes goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning.
- Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals, delegating responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
- Provide effective performance feedback through mid-year and end of year review cycle, employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Human Resources, when necessary, ensuring the right levels of support are provided.
- Maintain associates work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and paid time off, cover for absenteeism, and overtime scheduling.
- Responsible for ensuring that all associates have clarity with, and are held accountable to, business objectives and outcomes.
- As necessary, represents Buying Operations business needs on TJX Europe initiatives within the wider business, including those requiring systems enhancements or the creation of new tools or processes.
- Partners with the Logistics, and TJX Europe Merchandising Departments to develop and ensure execution of procedures that maximise efficiencies and accuracy for the writing and modifications of purchase orders and inbound flow.
- Build and develop relationships with international divisions in order to develop joint strategies and share best practice.
- Work with Global partners to lever opportunity by buying office, country of origin and department.
- Initiate process to measure and report on agreed actions, strategy and performance.
- Work with respective office Human Resources / Talent Acquisition team to support recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ the budgeted number of Supervisors and Associates.
- Consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall organisations and that emphasises the identified mission, vision, guiding principles, and values of the organisation.
- Identify trends, spikes, incidents and challenges that could impede service delivery and work with support partners to remedy these, escalating any concerns as appropriate and make recommendations to enable continuous improvements to services.
