Structural Design or Project Engineer
5+ years experience
Tisserin Engineers are looking for an exceptional design or project engineer who would be a key contributor to the team and help move the practice to the next level.
Tisserin Engineers are a growing structural and civil engineering practice based in Brixton, who believe in creating sustainable and efficient communities. We focus on people: our clients, our team members, and the communities using our buildings.
We believe in sustainable buildings and low carbon construction. The team have expertise with timber structural design, collaborating closely with our design partners and clients; and teaching/ mentoring the next generation of architects and engineers both through academia and within our office. We are big on mentoring.

The role is office based.
You should have 5+ years of hands-on experience of a range of construction methods and materials – timber experience is particularly advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Preparing structural design systems, ideas, and collaborating these with design calculations
- Structural assessment of existing buildings
- Managing and mentoring junior staff
- Running small to medium sized structural design projects
- Monitoring project progress, budgets and schedules
- Liaising and collaborating with contractors, clients and architects
- Creating structural analysis
- Representing the company at design team and contractor/client meetings
Requirements and skills
- A minimum of 5 years experience as a Structural Engineer working on small to medium sized projects
- Excellent knowledge of construction methods and regulations, particularly timber. Connection design experience a plus
- Learning mindset with excellent mathematical skills
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Proficiency with analysis software including RFEM, Tedds, Robot
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit software
- Degree in Structural Engineering; a Master’s degree is a plus
- Member of the Institute of Structural Engineering
