The predicted salary is between 31500 - 38500 £ per year.
The composites technician will be engaged in a variety of processes in the production and creation of materials and components that are used in a aerospace and Space applications.
They will provide support R&D and manufacturing programmes and projects, in the areas of design, tooling, moulding, lay-up, curing, machining, inspection, testing, repair and material production.
The role will be based at our facility in Farnborough.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Select appropriate techniques, procedures and methods to undertake part manufacture
- Identify and select materials
- Prepare tooling
- Manufacture components
- Select appropriate consumables required to ensure satisfactory progress and completion of projects and/or manufacturing programmes, in conjunction with any relevant Health and Safety legislation.
- Read and understand technical drawings for part manufacture
- Laminate geometrically complex parts
- Operate machinery associated with laminating and automated manufacture
- Carry out maintenance to machines or equipment to comply with preventative maintenance plans
- Assist and advise in the planning and preparation of manufacturing programmes and research projects to ensure they meet customer requirements and schedules
- Understand and follow work instructions and complete documentation in line with ISO9001 quality procedures
- Inspecting and measuring parts using tools such as FARO arm to verify dimensions, tolerances, and physical characteristics against engineering drawings or specifications
- Conducting visual inspections to identify defects, surface imperfections, or deviations from standards
Qualifications
- A recognised Level 3 Engineering qualification
- Experience with composite materials
- Familiarity with industry safety standards
