Company Overview
TISICS is a small management-owned business with material and processing technology that is of potential future benefit primarily to the Space and Aerospace sectors. The company designs and manufactures net shape metal and continuous silicon carbide fibre reinforced composite components comprising titanium and aluminium alloys. Our advanced materials offer significant advantages both to the Aerospace sector in reducing the weight of platforms for environmental benefit and to the Space sector with rapid growth in communications, climate and planetary exploration applications. In order to address these exciting market developments and increased customer interest in our technology, we are growing and looking for motivated and inspiring people to join the team.
The role of Fibre Process Lead Engineer is to provide operational leadership within our Fibre Plant. The plant supplies ceramic fibre to help develop products for the Aerospace and Space markets based on the TISICS metal matrix composites. Products include but are not limited to structural components, pressure vessels, and liquid propellant tanks. We handle a variety of different material types.
- Fibre (Silicon Carbide, Alumina Ceramic, Carbon Coating, and Tungsten Core, plus a variety of chemicals and gases involved in the manufacturing process)
- Composites with the fibre and a variety of matrix materials (Titanium, Aluminium) and tooling, which is primarily steel based.
We use some novel manufacturing methods using diffusion bonding and also including dissimilar material joining. This role combines both a hands-on element in developing and improving the plant operating processes as well as providing operational leadership to the fibre plant team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Process engineering leadership within the Fibre Plant Reporting to the Fibre Process Manager.
- Assessing industrial processes and taking measurements and data.
- Developing practices, routines and solutions to help improve productivity, throughput and quality.

- Preparing process documentation and operating instructions.
- Overseeing and assessing new and existing processes and workflows.
- Devising, implementing and testing new strategies to help optimise productivity.
- Analysing data to discover areas that need improvements and upgrades.
- Assessing compliance and adherence to safety and quality standards and reporting to higher management about findings and proposals.
- Exploring ways to improve the manufacturing process environmental sustainability.
- Overseeing operational quality control processes.
- Liaising with suppliers, customers and project teams.
- Establishing a production reliability compatible with external commercial fibre sales.
- Leading the fibre plant team of material science experts, facility build and maintenance engineers and operators.
