An opportunity exists within the UKI Distribution training team for a Driver Trainer to join Air Products on a permanent staff basis.
The Opportunity;
Trainers are responsible for delivering continuous safety and operational improvements through various training programs with our driver teams, creating and demonstrating a best-in-class safety culture, and embracing Air Products core safety values, being the safest gas company in the world.
This role requires individuals to articulate a high level of technical knowledge and experience as a subject matter expert (SME) in Air Products processes and procedures, coupled with regulatory and internal mandatory training.
This role provides a front-line business critical activity, being part of the Air Products team supporting our continuing customer relationship, which improves retention on a long-term basis.
Distribution operates across a multitude of sites within the UK including joint ventures or subsidiary companies covering circa 350 employed or contracted drivers. The Driver Trainer will be expected to travel across our different sites to perform training as required.
Duties include;
- The role requires driver trainers to provide subject matter expertise in the form of training and assessment in areas such as:
- New employee training.
- Regulatory Training (ADR & DCPC).
- Air Products mandatory training.
- 1:1 Competence assessment.
- Guidance and advice as required in technical expertise.
This position is accountable for the following end results:
- Adherence to all safety rules, processes, and procedures, as safety is a condition of employment.
- Maintain, develop, and apply knowledge of relevant procedures within our distribution organisation.
- Deliver regulatory DCPC training, product refresher training, induction training, both classroom based and on road practical training.
- Deliver training in line with Air Products timelines and policies, including new driver induction training.
- Assist Distribution teams in identifying high risk drivers.
- Coach and build training plans.
- Work cross functionally with other departments to correct issues or identify safety concerns relating to customer installations.
- Support driver teams with knowledge of processes as a subject matter expert.
- Provide safe support and assistance to colleagues while being accountable for your own performance.
- Strive to maximize internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Identifying and supporting programs to improve safety & efficiency in line with business objectives.
As the Driver Trainer, you already are or have;
- LGV 1 license (HGV Class 1/C+E unrestricted) (preferred).
- Proven tanker driving experience and min three years consecutive driving experience (Preferred).
- Proven track record of working within a safety-first environment.
- Able to work under own initiative with excellent communication skills.
- Previous experience in classroom training (Preferable).
- Exceptional knowledge of Cryogenic Liquid and Gas product delivery.
- Proven knowledge of tanker operations.
- Good time management and the ability to plan and prioritise tasks to meet the demands of multiple requests.
- Proven ability to adapt to change.
- Be able to work remotely and capable of travel as required.
- IT literate with experience of Microsoft Office programs, in particular the ability to use Excel and Word is essential.
- Administrative skills such as spreadsheets, word documents and use of IT systems is also essential.
