We are currently seeking Electrical Plant Technician to join our Operations team at one of our UK Production Facilities in Alloa. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for the safe, legal, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of the main production plant and its associated satellite plants located at customer sites. The Electrical Plant Technician will act as the Plant Manager’s representative when required and play a critical role in maintaining operational excellence across multiple locations.
As Electrical Plant Technician, you will work closely with the Plant Manager and the Operating Service Centre (OSC) to ensure high standards of safety, reliability, compliance, and performance. The role combines hands-on technical responsibility with site leadership, customer interaction, and regulatory compliance. You will be based at the Alloa Production Plant but will regularly support satellite plants in the surrounding area, including providing out-of-hours support as part of an on-call rota.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the on-site company representative for internal and external stakeholders, including customers, contractors, authorities, and service providers
- Support and mentor apprentices and newly appointed supervisors
- Work as part of the operating team alongside the Operating Service Centre (OSC) to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operation
- Operate the plant when not under OSC control, including local plant and satellite start-up and shutdown activities
- Meet production requirements through effective operation of process equipment
- Resolve trade-specific and process-related issues and breakdowns at the main facility and satellite sites
- Take primary responsibility for safety, health, quality, environmental compliance, and site security
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with EHS procedures, including issuing safety work permits
- Plan and execute routine maintenance using SAP, alongside non-routine and corrective maintenance as required
- Actively participate in planning and delivering major maintenance activities, including plant shutdowns
- Manage site spare parts and equipment stock, ensuring accurate SAP bin location control
- Maintain accurate plant logs, maintenance records, and SAP data
- Ensure all documentation and reporting is completed accurately and on time
- Provide out-of-hours support for plant and satellite emergencies, including operational and maintenance issues
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Level 3 electrical engineering qualification or completion of a recognised apprenticeship
- Valid UK driving licence
- Strong hands-on experience with process plant operations and maintenance
Skills & Competencies
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, essential for working in a small, close-knit team
- Confident communicator with customer-facing experience
- Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven
- Ability to work independently across production and satellite sites
- Comfortable working under pressure, particularly during major plant turnaround activities
- Extensive knowledge of industrial process plants and equipment (e.g. HYCO, ASU, HPN, VSA, Helium, pipelines, and associated electrical equipment)
- Strong cross-functional communication skills
- IT literate, with experience using SAP and Microsoft Office
