Description

Are you an experienced laboratory manager looking for a change of career?

Are you passionate about making a difference through the power of apprenticeships?

Are you ready to join a pacey, progressive organisation that\’s all about its people?

We\’re Tiro – a leading provider of science and technology apprenticeships. We\’ve got big ambitions and are looking for a Work Based Learning Coach to join our team to support learners through their Level 3 Laboratory Technician qualification.

We’ve been helping hungry apprentices to join ambitious businesses since 2005. At Tiro, we really believe that great apprenticeships help everyone. Because there are remarkable apprentices out there just waiting to be found, and fantastic employment opportunities waiting to be filled. But our work will never be just about getting bums on seats and pocketing our commission. In our own small way, we’re helping to change the world – finding people that are working on COVID vaccines, finding new ways for technology to help humanity and helping to tackle the big issues of the day, like climate change. We’re proud to be playing our part in making that happen, and we’re looking for more like-minded people to join team Tiro.

The Role

In this role, you’ll be helping to change the world through science and technology apprenticeships with your obsession for developing the next generation of Laboratory Technicians.

You’ll tenaciously drive the progress of your learners, keeping them on track to complete their training programme. Combining your lab testing or materials testing industry expertise, lab management experience and technical knowledge of laboratory skills, alongside first-class coaching and training skills, you’ll support your learners to embed workplace experiences, ensuring knowledge transfer which accelerates their competency in the workplace.

You\’ll be a strong relationship builder who\’s always got the best interests of your learners at heart. By partnering with learners, employers and workplace mentors, you\’ll constantly be striving for success and pushing for the best outcomes for those you support.

The Interview Process

We\’re really excited to find superstar candidates for this position, so we\’ll be reviewing applications as they come in and scheduling first-stage calls ASAP.

Final interviews are scheduled to take place on 12th and/or 13th August in Birmingham, so please make sure you are able to travel on these dates.

About You

We don\’t believe in an itemised list of requirements to work at Tiro – we\’re looking for someone who has the the right attitude and aptitude. Who knows their own mind and isn’t afraid to have a strong opinion. Who likes to work under their own steam and doesn’t want or need to be micromanaged. Who gets a thrill from helping some of Britain’s best businesses grow. And who’s genuinely passionate about the worlds of science and technology.

In this role, we\’re looking for someone who is obsessed with all things science and can\’t wait to share their knowledge and experience with the next generation of Laboratory Technicians. You will be able to bring laboratory technician concepts and information to life to inspire your learners to apply their newfound skills in the workplace. You\’ll have a passion for learning and thrive on seeing those \’lightbulb\’ moments happen!

You’ll be happiest when in our customers\’ labs and facilities across the UK with learners and other stakeholders watching learning come to life.

You\’ll be a self-starter who thrives in a pacey environment. You\’ll be an excellent collaborator who loves nothing more than working alongside your teammates to achieve success. You\’ll rise to the challenge and never shy away from sharing feedback. You’ll give the role your all, be unafraid to take the odd calculated risk, and will fundamentally challenge us, because if you don’t change Tiro, you can’t succeed.

Please note – on occasion, you will be required to travel to support and coach learners across different locations. Therefore, it is essential that applicants are based in the UK.

This role involve contact with learners from 16 year old upwards. Tiro is committed to the safeguarding and well-being of all of our learners, staff and customers. Failure to declare any convictions (that are not subject to DBS filtering) may disqualify you from joining Tiro.

We LOVE people – the apprentices who’re brimming with potential, the business leaders who are crying out for extra help and our fantastic team who make it all happen. And if you love people, you treat them well. You pay them what they’re worth. You coach and support them. And give them the opportunities to progress. You take a chance on people because you see something special, and you know they’re worth it.

At Tiro, we’ll look after you because we’re nothing without our people. We’ll never take you for granted and we’ll make sure work’s fun and rewarding.
