Our extensive fragrance knowledge and development experience enable us to advise on the perfect fragrance for your product. Founded in 1941, Carvansons is a fourth-generation family-owned perfume manufacturer with facilities throughout the world.

The Package:

  • Starting salary of £20,000 per year (increasing to National Minimum/Living wage after 12 months)
  • 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays (3 days of annual leave to be used during the Christmas shutdown)
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
  • 37.5 hours per week

What will I be doing as an apprentice?

As a Laboratory Apprentice, you will gain full understanding and experience of working in a Chemical Laboratory environment. You will work within all the relevant departments within the fragrance factory. In addition, you will spend 20% of your time becoming familiar with other departments such as Production Support, Warehouse, Dispatch, Finance, Sales, and Customer Service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sample Preparation: Formulate and complete assigned projects within deadlines using chemical compounding and the Sample Library. Accurately weigh raw materials and follow formulations. Prepare, label, pack, and dispatch samples, ensuring accurate stock logging in Business Central (BC). Maintain the Sample Library by replenishing stock, updating batch details, and refilling bottles.
  • Stock & Order Processing: Use BC for stock management, order processing, and formulation printing. Log and update new stock locations and batch numbers in BC. Ensure raw materials are replenished and tracked in the system.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Communicate professionally with colleagues, managers, and external contacts. Respond effectively to requests and contribute to team discussions. Support team members, share ideas, and maintain a collaborative work environment.
  • Administration & Compliance: Use Microsoft Office for data entry, reporting, and document management. Maintain accurate filing systems and adhere to company procedures. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and company standards.

About you: This is a practical, hands-on role. You should be focused, careful, and detail-oriented. Good observation skills and the ability to think quickly are essential. You should be a good communicator, enthusiastic, collaborative, and eager to learn. Candidates must be aged 18+ due to the role's nature.

Qualifications: We value enthusiasm over academic results. The best apprentices are curious, honest about their current knowledge, considerate, self-reflective, and eager to learn.

Experience: Previous experience is beneficial but not essential. We seek individuals with the right attitude and aptitude to fit into Carvansons.

How does the apprenticeship work? Over 21 months, you'll dedicate at least 6 hours weekly to 'off the job' training, including virtual lessons, online learning, shadowing, mentoring, and assignments. This will lead to a Level 3 Laboratory Technician apprenticeship. You'll be mentored by experts from Tiro and Carvansons, gaining valuable skills and work habits. You'll earn a salary while studying, avoiding student debt.

Eligibility: Applicants must meet UK Government rules: over 16, not in full-time education, UK residency for 3 years, and right to work in the UK. If you don't meet all criteria yet, express your interest, and we'll discuss further.
