We're partnering with a corporate backed, scaling infrastructure business operating at the intersection of data centres, high-performance computing, and sustainable energy. This is a senior leadership role for an experienced data centre design manager who wants to own technical design governance, influence strategy, and scale a next-generation platform.
The Role
As Head of Data Centre Design, you'll act as the technical authority across multiple projects, overseeing data centre design from concept through to construction, commissioning, and handover. You'll work with external consultants, MEP engineers, and design-build partners, ensuring solutions meet performance, resilience, and efficiency requirements while remaining practical and scalable. This data centre design director role suits someone deeply technical in mission-critical facilities who's comfortable shaping standards and influencing senior stakeholders.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own and evolve the organization's reference architecture and technical standards
- Review and approve third-party designs across all MEP disciplines
- Lead decisions on power architecture, cooling strategies, and system resilience
- Support construction and commissioning teams with technical problem-solving
- Ensure designs are fit for long-term operation and performance
- Contribute to the technical roadmap and standardization strategy
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- 8+ years as a data centre design manager or in mission-critical facilities
- Strong mechanical and electrical engineering background
- Experience as technical authority over external designs
- Exposure to high-density or HPC environments
- Experience with design & build delivery models
Nice to Have:
- Large-scale infrastructure or complex construction experience
- Chartered Engineer status
- Knowledge of sustainable design and DCIM systems
