We’re working with a fast-growing, mission-led infrastructure business operating at the intersection of data centres, high-performance computing, and sustainable energy. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who wants to own technical design governance end-to-end, influence strategy, and help scale a next-generation data centre platform.
As Head of Data Centre Design, you’ll act as the technical authority across multiple data centre projects, overseeing design from early concept through to construction, commissioning, and handover. You’ll work closely with external consultants and design-and-build partners, ensuring solutions meet demanding performance, resilience, and efficiency requirements — while remaining practical, scalable, and operationally sound. This role suits someone who enjoys being deeply technical, but also comfortable shaping standards, challenging designs, and influencing senior stakeholders.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Owning and evolving the organisation’s reference architecture and technical standards
- Reviewing, challenging, and approving third-party designs across all MEP disciplines
- Leading decisions around power architecture, cooling strategies, and system resilience
- Supporting construction and commissioning teams with technical problem-solving
- Ensuring designs are fit for long-term operation, maintenance, and performance
- Contributing to the wider technical roadmap and standardisation strategy
What We’re Looking For:
- Essential: 8+ years’ experience in data centre or mission-critical facility design
- Strong mechanical and electrical engineering background
- Experience acting as a technical authority over external designs
- Exposure to high-density or HPC environments
- Comfortable working within design
