As we navigate the 2026 digital education revolution, we are expanding our capabilities in emerging technologies. We are seeking an operational powerhouse to step into the role of Digital Learning Manager, who will turn our high-level digital vision into an inspiring, everyday classroom reality.

As the Digital Learning Manager, you will serve as the operational engine room of the Digital Innovation and AI department. Reporting directly to the Head of AI and Digital Innovation, you will manage the daily operations of our state-of-the-art Digital Hub, transforming it into a thriving centre of excellence for AI, VR, and immersive tools. This is a pivotal, frontline people-management role. While the strategic roadmap and budgets are handled at leadership level, you will own the tactical delivery. You will lead, inspire, and manage a team of Learning Technologists and Digital Specialists, bridging the gap between technical IT capabilities and cutting-edge pedagogical needs. This role focuses heavily on operational delivery and human change management. In 2026, your primary challenge will be overcoming innovation fatigue among teaching staff. You will need a firm but supportive approach to navigate the daily friction of motivating busy educators to adopt new AI tools and immersive pedagogies. You will also manage high-demand resources, requiring top-tier organisational skills to balance the competing needs of different curriculum areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hub Operations and Asset Management: Oversee the daily operations of the Digital Hub. Supervise deployment, scheduling, and maintenance of high-value assets such as VR/AR suites and AI workstations to maximise utilisation rates.
  • Team Leadership and Workflow: Line-manage the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team, setting performance targets, coordinating daily workflows, and supporting their professional development.
  • On-the-Ground Upskilling: Translate strategic goals into practical, hands-on staff development sessions. Lead the rollout of 2026 technologies, focusing on the practical how-to of AI tools and digital pedagogy for teaching staff.
  • VLE Quality Assurance: Maintain the integrity, accessibility, and consistency of our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), auditing courses to ensure they meet the institutional Gold Standard.
  • Curriculum Partnership: Act as the primary link between curriculum teams and the Digital Hub. Demystify complex technologies, identify support needs, and coordinate a peer-mentorship network to build a self-sustaining digital culture.
  • Intelligence Lead and Data Reporting: Act as the voice of the data. Collate and analyse user engagement data and feedback from the Hub, providing evidence-based insights to help the Head of Digital Innovation and AI to evidence ROI to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Compliance and IT Collaboration: Work alongside IT technicians to deploy approved software solutions while enforcing institutional standards for digital accessibility and ethical AI use at the classroom level.

Qualifications

  • Proven Leadership: Strong background in line-managing technical or educational specialists (e.g., Learning Technologists), with a talent for scheduling and driving team performance.
  • Sector Knowledge: Experience working within a Further Education (FE), Higher Education (HE), or training provider environment.
  • Resilient and Organised Leader: A resilient, organised leader who loves managing people and driving human change without the administrative burden of departmental budget management.
  • Proactive Problem Solver: A proactive, resilient leader who can troubleshoot technical and cultural roadblocks in real time, translating complex goals into everyday wins.
