A specialist PRU school in West Drayton is seeking a dedicated and proactive Pastoral Attendance Officer to join their pastoral team. This role focuses on improving attendance, supporting vulnerable young people, and helping students overcome barriers to education.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and track student attendance across the school.
  • Identify patterns of absence and implement attendance interventions.
  • Conduct attendance meetings with parents, carers, and external agencies.
  • Support students with barriers to learning and school engagement.
  • Work alongside safeguarding, pastoral, and leadership teams.
  • Carry out home visits where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and reports.
  • Promote positive attendance and punctuality throughout the school.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Pastoral Attendance Officer, Attendance Officer, Family Liaison Officer, Welfare Officer, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of attendance procedures and safeguarding practices.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations professionally and calmly.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Experience within a PRU, Alternative Provision, SEMH school, or SEN setting highly beneficial.
