Role Overview
The Demand and Supply Planner plays a critical role in ensuring the effective alignment of customer demand with supply capabilities. This position is responsible for delivering accurate demand forecasts, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and supporting the efficient flow of goods through the supply chain. Working cross-functionally, the role contributes directly to service performance, cost control, and overall operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts using historical data, trends, and business insight
- Manage purchasing activities to ensure timely product availability in line with business requirements
- Build and maintain effective supplier relationships, monitoring performance and resolving delivery or quality issues
- Monitor and optimise stock levels to balance availability with working capital efficiency
- Maintain data integrity within planning systems, including pricing and product information
- Track, analyse, and report on key performance indicators, driving corrective actions where required
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain performance and reduce lead times
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including Sales, Customer Service, Warehouse, Technical, and Finance teams

- Maintaining forecast accuracy in a dynamic and evolving demand environment
- Managing and analysing large volumes of data with a high degree of accuracy
- Responding effectively to supply disruptions and external pressures
- Aligning internal stakeholders to ensure consistent and up-to-date demand signals
Decision-Making Authority
- Managing supplier communications and resolving delivery issues
- Addressing supplier performance concerns and non-conformances
- Setting and maintaining appropriate stock parameters (minimum/maximum levels)
- Identifying and implementing improvements to planning processes and systems
- Recommending and agreeing suitable alternatives in the event of supply constraints
Performance Measures
- Inventory levels maintained within agreed targets
- Product availability and service levels (e.g. OTIF performance)
- Accuracy and reliability of demand forecasts
- Supplier performance and responsiveness
- Data accuracy within planning systems
Skills, Knowledge And Experience
- Experience in demand planning, supply chain, or a related discipline, ideally within a manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical capability with proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including PivotTables and data analysis tools)
- Experience using ERP systems to manage planning and supply chain activities
- High level of attention to detail with the ability to manage complex datasets
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships internally and externally
